Goji Berries

Goji berries are arguably the most nutritionally-rich fruit on the planet. They contain up to 21 trace minerals , 18 amino acids including all 8 of the essential amino acids. They are the richest source of carotenoids, including beta-carotene of all plants, contain 500 times the Vitamin C by weight than oranges and contain Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E. They are also a good source of iron.

They are grown in the Himalayas and have been used nutritionally and medicinally for several thousand years to promote a long healthy life. They are a red coloured berry about the size of a sultana and taste a bit like a cross between a cranberry & a cherry.

Goji berry is a truly nutrient dense food with abundant health benefits. These include improving vision, inducing immune responses, influencing aging and longevity, enhancing food conversion, reducing body weight, improving reproductive function, reducing fatigue and improving tissue formation. Goji berry also has antioxidant, neuro-protective, skin-protective, hypoglycaemic and hypolipidemic properties. They are said to raise the spirits, fight depression and increase cheerfulness – and are known as the Happy Berry!

A good daily intake of berries is 10-30g per day (a small handful). They can be used as snacks, mixed with recipes or smoothies or as you would any dried fruit. Ask us to see more information.
