"We don't need a handful of people

doing zero waste perfectly.

We need millions of people doing it

imperfectly"

Anna Marie Bonneau - Zero Waste Chef

Weigh 'n Pay was opened in 1992 with the idea of creating an environment where the community can purchase high quality, locally sourced products in a low waste and sustainable manner. Over the years we have expanded into new and exciting areas but we haven't forgotten where we come from.

We have seen a 'reawakening' in our customers and community in recent years. There is new momentum to create an environmentally sustainable society where we can all live happy and healthy lives - but not at the expense of our planet. Because of this we have massively increased our range of bulk products to include: cleaning products, hair care products, Sauces, Olive oil, Coconut Oil, and more!  We've also recently invested in two nut butter machines which allows us to pump fresh, 100% Australian nut butters each and every day!

Our philosophy has always been to allow customers to make environmentally sustainable choices, but at a reasonable cost.  We believe that if this lifestyle is not financially sustainable then it just becomes another fad. We will never jump on the bandwagon and will only sell products we have tried and believe in, at a fair price.

How to Shop Low Waste: BYO Containers

One of the easiest ways to reduce your waste is to shop in a bulk food store for your everyday pantry items. Simply bring your clean and dry containers in and ask our friendly staff to weigh and write the 'tare weight' on each container. We will subtract the weight of your container at the till so you only pay for what you weigh. Our range is always expanding and we are happy to take product suggestions and requests from our customers so don't hesitate to ask in-store or Contact Us.

If you are not able to BYO containers we still have paper produce bags available for you to take for free. These bags are 100% compostable in your own backyard so you don't have to throw them in the trash!

With over 1000 products available in bulk we've got all the essentials plus a few exotic ingredients you may not have heard of. Come chat to our knowledgeable and friendly staff for some recipe ideas!

Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July is a great initiative started in WA in 2011. It's since grown into an international movement with millions of participants around the globe.

This is a great opportunity to Take the Challenge and commit to making a difference. You don't have to become a 'zero-waste warrior' overnight - if everyone made a small step in the right direction it would create big changes across society.

To assist you on your low-waste journey we are offering a 10% discount on all products that are placed into a reusable container for the whole month of July. Conditions apply.

One Step at a Time!

We understand that this movement can be confusing and full of pitfalls. At times you may change to a certain product only to find it has an unintended impact on the environment - this can get disheartening and frustrating!

Our philosophy is to take one small step in the right direction. Once that becomes normal, take another step!

If you try and take a big leap you might fall down.

This can be as simple as committing to bringing a reusable coffee cup for your morning cuppa, taking your own produce bags to the supermarket, making your own beeswax wraps or starting a compost pile in your back yard. These might feel like small, insignificant changes in isolation but if everyone makes a small change, over time it will equate to big changes. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step!
